Waste-to-Energy – an essential part of the circular economy
The CCAC Municipal Solid Waste Initiative presents a webinar on “Waste to energy, an essential part of the circular economy”.
In this webinar, you will learn about how waste-to-energy plants (MSW incineration) can be an essential part of the solution to move waste management systems of modern societies away from landfilling without any diversion of recoverable resources and towards a sustainable and efficient circular economy.
The webinar will briefly show the history of waste incineration, the main tasks and its development to modern waste-to-energy plants. It also gives a short overview of current waste-to-energy techniques and performances. The key part of the presentation is the discussion of the role of waste-to-energy plants in the circular economy including the discussion of necessary frameworks and boundary conditions for waste-to-energy as well as discussing the challenges and benefits in developing and newly industrialized countries.
The webinar was presented by Carsten Spohn, Managing Director of ITAD (Interessengemeinschaft der Thermischen Abfallbehandlungsanlagen in Deutschland - German Association of Waste-to-Energy plants).
This webinar was held on Thursday, September 27th at 4:00 PM CET .
