Conversion of Dhalaos (temporary waste storage units) to Scientific Transfer Station

Dhalaos (temporary waste storage three-walled bays) are presently used as waste collection points in most cities in India. However, in case of delay in the collection, garbage often spills onto the road generating stink and raising fears of rodent infestation and disease outbreak. Transfer stations, on the other hand, will help reduce the manual handling of waste and also spillage of waste during transportation.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Determining and deciding transfer station size and capacity
  • Site Selection
  • Transfer station design and operation
  • Mitigating environmental issues

This webinar took place on December 8, 2017,  at 3:30 pm India time and was organized by TERI on behalf of the CCAC Waste Initiative.
