CCAC Waste Initiative Global Workshop for City Leadership

The CCAC Waste Initiative was launched in June 2012 to assist cities and municipalities with activities targeting short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) emission reductions from waste management. The organizing and leading of workshops involving CCAC City representatives has been one of the key capacity building activities of the Waste Initiative. The first CCAC Waste Initiative Global Workshop was organized on the margins of the ISWA Congress in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2014. The focus of the event was on introducing new cities to the Waste Initiative and help existing partners continue their efforts to reduce SLCPs.The Global Workshop in Baltimore is a unique opportunity to feature the progress the Waste Initiative has been making in cities, through highlighting success stories presented by ‘high achiever’ cities from the global South and thus, further solidify and reaffirm their commitment to CCAC objectives. Additionally, the event will support the forming of a ‘leadership platform’ for these high achiever cities. The Global workshop is being held on the margins of the 2017 ISWA World Congress & WASTECON at the Baltimore Convention Centre. The World Congress is the largest annual event organized by the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA). WASTECON®, organized by SWANA, is the premier solid waste industry-focused conference in North America that brings you the latest news, education, advancements, and products to help you achieve success in your business. In 2017 WASTECON co-locates with ISWA’s World Congress to offer two exciting international events in one location, September 25–27 2017, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.  For more information on the conference, please visit https://swana.org/Events/WASTECON.aspx
