CCAC Waste Initiative Network of Southeast European, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian Cities: Workshop on Work Plan Development

Background:
The objective of this workshop is to launch a focused waste management network encompassing the regions of Southeast Europe (SEE), the Middle East and Central Asia. The network is supported by the CCAC Waste Initiative and implemented by SeSWA with the objective of fostering informational exchange and outreach to municipalities in these regions while responding to the demand for knowledge on improved waste management techniques that integrate reductions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs).

Objectives:
Workshop presenters will include international waste management experts addressing topics such as organic waste treatment and landfill gas management. Decision-making tools designed to assist technical staff with technology selection and investment planning will also be presented. Discussions will conclude with action planning activities designed to allow participants to develop tailored plans that correspond to the needs of their respective municipal waste management systems.

Participants:
Participating cities will include small and medium-sized municipalities from developing countries within the regions of SEE, Middle East, and Central Asia. Individual participants will include representatives of local self-government in charge of waste management, technical staff of waste management units, in addition to landfill managers and operators from selected cities.
