Municipal Solid Waste Knowledge Platform

The main objective of the case studies is to estimate emission mitigation resulting from closing dumpsites. As well as making an estimation of mitigation, the case studies depict the evolution of the MSW management system of the municipality and the main aspects of the country’s MSW policy and legislation. In addition, lessons learned from introducing new MSW management practices are discussed.

The emission mitigation calculations were made using the SWEET tool, developed by the CCAC Waste Initiative.
