First Workshop for the Municipal Solid Waste City Network Program for African Francophone Cities

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition's Municipal Solid Waste Initiative, supported by Gevalor, held an invite-only workshop on reducing short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) from the solid waste sector for 10 cities of African Francophone Countries.  This event took place at the Hotel Excellence in Lomé, Togo, on July 5 - 7, 2017.

The objective of this activity was to introduce the CCAC Waste Initiative approach to the 10 cities, to develop the concepts and issues related to climate pollutants within the waste sector, and to introduce the city assessment that will have to be carried out by the 10 cities. The event included technical training on SLCPs from the waste sector and the city assessment tool, as well as shared experiences from the city of Lome on their work with the Waste Initiative.

The workshop was attended by representatives of cities of  Dakar, Sikasso, San Pedro, Porto-Novo, Ouagadougou, Yaounde and Douala, Butembo, Antananarivo, and Lomé.
